  • Elementary Wellness Week #4

    Starts: 12:00 am

    Ends: 12:00 am, May 9, 2015

Description: Horizon Honors Elementary School will be participating in Wellness Week the week of May 4th. This is our last Wellness Week of the school year. Recent studies show that time spent in physical activity in school helps children reach national fitness levels and can help students achieve more in the classroom. Children who are active and fit have better test scores than those who are less fit and inactive.

The physical activity theme for this week is the importance of practice. Practice helps with improving a particular skill; the more we keep trying the more we will improve that skill. So, play lots and you will learn lots!

The nutrition themes for Wellness Week 4 are limiting foods high in fat and know that water is an important nutrient. Wednesday is “Eat Well Wednesday” and you can reinforce the nutrition information that your child learns by helping him or her eat foods that a low in fat and always sending a water bottle to school with them. During Wellness Week 4, your child will perform a variety of activity breaks in the classroom and we will culminate our week with our “Get Fit Friday” Dance Jam activity. Join us on Friday, May 8th at 8:15 a.m. as we take part in a Dance Jam routine in the Larry Pieratt Activity Center.
