Kindergarten Program
For the 2011-2012 school year, HCLC offers both half-day and extended day kindergarten classes for students turning five on or before August 31, 2011. Within a developmentally appropriate and nurturing environment, teachers focus on the social, emotional and academic needs of kindergarten students. All students are grouped within the classrooms according to their level of ability. The half-day program includes reading, writing, math and some thematic activities. The extended-day program includes reading, writing, math, project group and P.E., music, Spanish, technology, media center, literature exploration, lunchtime and recess. Extended Day Kindergarten has a cost of $2,250.

First Through Fourth Grade Program
HCLC clusters both first and second grade students and third and fourth grade students together in the classroom. Clustering students for two years enables HCLC to provide a greater degree of continuous academic growth on an individual student basis and to also deliver a leadership and character-building program. Generally students spend both years with the same teachers allowing for the opportunity for the students, parents and teachers to build close, personal relationships. Students also receive instruction in physical education, Spanish, music and technology. Each day ends with all students participating in a project group activity within their teams. The project group curriculum, often focusing on science or social studies, heightens the importance of learning by allowing the students to use what they learned that day in their academic classes. Students will work on projects solving real-life problems and then present it to their parents and the community in a summative event at the end of each quarter. The academic focus for the primary school is to provide the basic foundation for learning in the areas of reading, writing and mathematics. There is also a strong emphasis on values, learning to think and leadership skill development.
